No! Do not speak his name! What's that? You don't know the legend of the cursed bishop? Then approach, but slowly, make no sound, no one must hear us...Let me whisper his story to you.
They say that he was made a bishop because of his faith and his kindness. He was righteous and compassionate to all, rich and poor alike. Then one fateful day he left to join the crusades. He desired to spread the good word; to evangelize and all that it entails.
They say that over there he became a demon. One who had been so good had become so cruel. They say that the day he donned his armour and placed his helm on his head, he seized a mace and smashed the skulls of several helpless prisoners who were at his mercy.
His face has never been seen since. Some say that he is dead and that it is his spirit which has returned to haunt us. He has been seen here. Right here, always in the cathedral grounds. And bodies have been found, not accidents: remember his mace? One day, he appeared in the sacristy itself, nobody saw him enter, it took a censer which lit by itself, it was not sacred smoke which poured out but tendrils of cold, blue flames which bathed the whole cathedral in blinding blue light.
He appeared behind the priest while howling in an inhuman voice: "Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor". Then it laid the churchman low with a fatal blow of his mace! His misdeed achieved, he disappeared in a flash accompanied with deafening thunder. A demon, I tell you! Whenever you approach the cathedral, be wary of him, or his shadow… And above all, do not speak his name! No! Unhappy one, do not ever speak his name.
